The last few days have been dedicated to the preparation of the Lime concrete screed 90m2, we had to finish to dig to get the right level. We have done the trench for the evacuation of water inside the barn and a foundation to support the post which will maintain the beam. We started to get worried about the beam as we realised that it was not oak and we will have the first floor resting on it. In fact the architect told us that the length is nearly 7m and it could be a bit short in terms of sagging, nothing to do with the nature of the wood so we will need a vertical post for extra support.
Today we are putting the water pipes and finishing of the foundation for the future fireplace..
Good news : we have all the clay pellets. It is so light, a pleasure to manipulate compare with the digging ( sledgehammer, cold chisel with cold sharpen after each use). The crumblies help as well the moving the bag of limes. 35kg each and 90 of them, nothing!!
